I moved to Port Orange, Florida in April of 2005 with my husband, Ron, and two boys, Adam and Christopher. I was surprised to discover that there was really no structured exercise program here within the Fly-In. Some friends and I got together a few times to have a mini in-home class and they quickly encouraged me to create an opportunity for structured exercise classes here within the community. That's how Spruce Creek Fitness began.
I grew up in a rural part of Maryland and stayed there until I went off to Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. There I earned my bachelors degree in English. After college, I met t he love of my life and moved to Northern Virginia. For almost 10 years, we ran a business there together and began to raise our family. Like so many before us, we got tired of the hustle and bustle and were ready for a change in our life. Then Ron discovered the Fly-In and it was all over. Since Ron's passion is flying we were soon on our way to Florida. My exercise career began when Christopher, my youngest, was 9 months old and I was about to purchase a pair of size 16 jeans. I decided then that I need ed to make some permanent changes in my life. I joined a gym and began exercising regularly. I quickly discovered that I loved the group exercise environment. After a few months, I made the decision to become a group exercise instructor. Almost immediately I realized that I had found that one thing that drives me. I had discovered my passion. After te aching group exercise for several years, the next natural progression for me was to get my certification as a personal trainer. I love the opportunity to work one on one with people because you can address so many more aspects of fitness and of the individual. I believe there are many different dimensions to people and many different aspects to fitness. One of my goals is to bring all of those different pieces together to create fuller, happier, healthier people for a better world. I believe you can only be truly successful if you enjoy what you do and you are serving people in some way. I truly love what I do and I am motivated by the successes of the people I work with. I appreciate the opportunity to live and work in this community and would be grateful for the opportunity to work with you. Namaste (peace be with you), Krista Ghaffarian |
